I've always loved painting and creating beautiful art with lots of color and designs. Another passion of mine is animals. Incorporating the two has been really fun and exciting. I hope that you'll love these paintings just as much as I do. If you're interested in purchasing one, or would like me to paint something for you, please check out my How to Order and Prices page. You can also contact me with any questions at scscotton_yahoo.com. Thanks for visiting today and please stop by again soon to see more Art by Sara Scotton.
Artist Statement
My work explores the relationship between movement, color, and design. My ideas and techniques come mostly from the fluidity of nature; the waves of the ocean, the twisting of vines, and the shapes of petals and leaves. I take these natural forms and abstract them, giving them a dream like quality. I also enjoy working with geometric patterns and shapes. Even though this creates a more rigid composition, the colors I use still allow the viewer to feel movement.
I draw inspiration from my everyday experiences and daydreams. Once my paintbrush touches the canvas I get influenced by the bright colors and flowing gestures. I create compositions that allow shape and color to interact in an exciting way.
By using abstract designs I let the viewer develop their own individual relationship with my work. I enjoy artwork that is open to personal exploration and love creating pieces that inspire others to look at the world differently. I hope to continue exploring movement through my painting and developing more ideas. I want to explore new ways of expressing myself within my paintings.

How to Order:
Excited about getting a custom animal portrait? Well I’m excited to create it.
There are just a few simple steps that need to be taken before I begin to create your portrait.
Photos:
I work entirely from photos, so first I need some good quality photos of you pet. Let me know which photo is your favorite, I will use the other photos for reference.
I can paint a traditional portrait of you pet or something a little more whimsical and creative. Let me know a little about pets personality: favorite food, toys, activities, likes, dislikes...etc. If you have a specific idea for a painting I can paint pretty much what ever you'd like. I can also help you come up with some ideas for the portrait.
Decide what size portrait you want. Just let me know the specific dimensions, so I can give you a quote.
Once we've agreed on some basic ideas for the painting, I'll require a 50% deposit. I will then send you some rough sketches for your approval. If you like them then I will get to work on your painting!
I will periodically send you the latest photos of your "work in progress" portrait so if there are any changes you want to make it won't be too late to suggest them. When I have completed the portrait I will email you a photo for your final approval and then require the remaining balance.
The prices are for single animal portraits with a basic background. Multiple animals in a single parinting or significant detailed items incorporated (intricate backgrounds, other animals, etc.) in the paintings will have additional charges: please contact me for a quote. I require a 50% non-refundable deposit before beginning the painting and usually need about 6-8 weeks to complete it, depending on size and detail of course. Payment can be made either by personal check or cash.
